How to have a successful garage sale

Plan ahead!!!!! Be prepared that some work is involved and it won't be easy. If you get your mind ready it will go alot easier and more successful.  Take the time to really clean everything up instead of just opening the garage and throwing it out there. If you have some great toys and electronics be prepared with batteries or extension cords to reassure people that everything works.

Set everything up in groups and label everything clearly. Be prepared for haglers. You may want to price slightly above what you want then you won't feel so bad when people ask for less.

Sinage is very important! Clear signs and detailed directions will insure more people!
Be sure and take part in the free advertising sites like ok4free.com craiglist.com, consumerqueen.com and freecycle groups.

If it's a hot day , score some extra cash by selling cold drinks. My kids love to set up a snow cone stand and its always a hit.

Tell your kids that whatever they sell they get to keep the cash. You will be amazed how quickly they will clean out their rooms and get rid of all that old junk.

KMart Super Doubles Oct. 1 - 5
by chihuahualuver

ok may just be a rumor, but have heard through other sites that Kmart is doubleing coupons on the weekend of october 14, and suposted to be nationwide. Also heard may do a triple at some time. As for the stores that would not double, the managers all recieved a email stating if a customer asks to double that they were supposed to honor it. I had clerk and supervisor deny me this until I asked for manager. He came to front desk and found the notice among the papers at customer service and informed them that yes they were to honor it. So next time tell them you have talked to corp. and to check their emails. Re shopping trip: $ 315. b/c , $ 111.a/c and thats with $28.00 in taxes.

Remember 9/11

“Evil is powerless if the good are unafraid.” ~ Ronald Reagan

A horrible tragedy occured at 8:46 Tuesday Morning September 11, 2001. There were 4 planes hijacked by terrorists. A senseless act of cowardness.

American Airlines Flight 11, crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Center in New York. There were 92 people aboard, including 9 flight attendants and 2 pilots.

At 9:03 a.m., United Airlines Flight 175 crashed into the South Tower, carrying 65 people, including 7 flight attendants and 2 pilots.

At 9:38 a.m., American Airlines Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon in Arlington, Va. There were 64 people aboard, including 4 flight attendants and 2 pilots.

At 10:10 a.m., United Airlines Flight 93 crashed Southeast of Pittsburgh carrying 45 people, including 5 flight attendants and 2 pilots. It is believed that flight 93 was headed for the White House when some of the passengers rushed the terrorists, causing them to miss their intended target and crash into a field in Pittsburgh. We thank those aboard flight 93 for such a courageous act of selflessness and bravery for saving the many lives that would have been destroyed at the White House.

May God Bless the heroes who have lost their lives in helping save the lives of others.

I just go this in an email!!!Good day all! I hope this note finds you well. I am writing this to let you know about a very important issue that conerns anyone with a pet. I recently became aware of an issue with a product called Bio Spot. This is a flea and tick treatment that is sold over the counter in stores such as Farm and Home, Wal Mart, or other such stores. I have been using this product for about a year (since the summer of 2007). The product is relatively cheap and works pretty well on killing fleas and ticks, which is why I have continued to use it. Recently my dog Yankee (a 6 pound Yorkie) began acting very strangely. He began eating and drinking very little or not at all. He was also acting very lethargic, laying around, itching constantly, and not really acting normal. Finally, the worst symptom was tremors. Yankee began shaking constantly, all over his entire body. This lasted for over 24 straight hours. I consulted the vet, after describing Yankee's symptoms, they immediately asked if I had given him any flea and tick medications besides Frontline or Advantage. Well of course I said yes! They went on to tell me that many over the counter types of flea and tick medications can cause nervous system damage!!! Turns out that Bio Spot is one of those brands. There is a chemical called permethrin that is in many of these products which is made for horses and cows, and is NOT safe for dogs and cats. The chemical can react with a dog or cat's body and cause lethargy, appetite issues, itching, tremors, and sometimes seizures!! Also, if used on cats, it can often be fatal. I have actually done quite a bit of research online since this happened and have come across many stories of dogs who have been injured/affected by permethrin. Plus my vet told me several stories of pets in his very own office who have had the same injuries, and some cats who actually died because of the permethrin. It doesn't always affect every dog it's used on, and doesn't affect every dog the same way everytime. This is what makes it even scarier, you never know when the permethrin will hurt your animal!

ARE YOU REALLY SAVING MONEY !

ARE YOU REALLY SAVING MONEY !

Here are some things to think about when coupon shopping. Time is money and you really need to justify what your buying is really saving you money. Here are a few do’s and dont’s to think about.

*Shopping with kids: If you have to shop with your kids make a list of the deals before you go. Let your kids know you will only be buying what is on the list. If you are finding yourself buying alot of extras(snacks, drinks, toys) to keep your little ones busy you really aren’t saving money in the long run.
Pack a snack bag in the car or to take in the store as well as book or something that will occupy them.

* Gas Prices: Do not drive clear across town just because your friend calls you and says hey my Target has razors on clearance and they have 3 left. The gas you use driving all across town is going to counteract the coupon savings. Don’t worry another deal will come along. You have to use your common sense I see way to many people who will use up a 1/2 a tank of gas just so they can get 3 bottles of shampoo for free.(thats obsession lol)

* OBSESSION: This my favorite, and one I have been guilty of until I had one of those AHA ! moments!!
Couponing can turn into an obsession, it can be quite the high to start seeing how much you can save. Some people find themselves starting to buy junk that they will never use and think they are saving alot of money only to think when they got home I just paid 10 cents for this plastic flower pot with a wooden flower sticking out of it and was normally $3.99. Great deal but now what do I do with it?
You start running out of room in your house and your family is starting to get upset because all the junk is taking up space. (now i am not saying don’t buy 10 bottles of laundry soap when you know you are going to go through a bottle a week) I mean stuff that people buy that is just junk. This can also turn into hording!

*HORDING:Hording is when you go to get a deal and you clear off the shelf so noone else can partake in it. I don’t mean you take the last 2 I mean someone who comes in and shops every CVS or Walgreens in the city and wipes every sale item off the shelf. This only hurts us couponers in the long wrong as regular customers cannot get in on the deals. Remember this is taking your time, gas and you are paying tax on all these items as well.

*REMEMBER*
You do not have to stress out over getting a deal, another one will always come along ! You will find yourself less stressed and more organized in the long run.

75% off at Dillards:
(Thanks Tammy)
My mom and I were wandering around Dillards, JCP and Macy's this weekend and foundMANY sales that were 75% off. She bought about 10 shirts and capris that were $32.00 to $50.00 regular priced for no more than $9.99. (Many of them were only about $6.00) What a deal!I was able to buy a 3 piece suite at Dillards for only $27.49 regular price $100. I love it! Just wished I had more $$$ as the sales were REALLY good. I usually don't shop there much as I can't afford the prices. lol Now I'm really glad that we went. Tammy
